Description
Dated 1659 AD. A Holland province ducat pierced close to the edge and used as a pendant 'touch piece' for good luck and health. Obverse: 'MO AVR PROVIN CONFOE BELG AD LEG IMP' legend in five lines within a scrolled square tablet. Reverse: a knight facing right standing in armour with a sword in right hand and a bundle of arrows in his left, dividing the year of issue '1659', with 'CONCORDIA RES PARVAE RES HOL' legend (Through concord little things grow - Holland; Union is strength). 5.96 grams, 28mm (1"). Property of an Essex gentleman. Coin: KM#40 variant.
