Amable Schneider (French, 1824-1884), "Tending the Brick Oven", oil on canvas, signed lower right. 19th century figural painting depicting a dark outdoor setting lit by red glow from brick oven, older woman stokes fire, little girl reaching up with arms full of firewood, ivy hanging from window at left with red flowers, work table at right behind woman. Inscribed on verso of canvas "Dame Se Lolettel 40, Alexis Ottoz, Al de Couleurs Fines Tailes Tablean, Paris". Framed approximately 33.25" x 29.5". Unframed approximately 22" x 18".
