French, late 19th/early 20th century. An ebonized wood breakfront bibliotheque of impressive palatial scale in the Napoleon III style, the upper case comprising a molded frieze with projecting triglyphs over a beaded molding with central carved acanthus leaf motif, over three windowed display cabinets comprising central cabinet with two doors and two quarter round side cabinets, each opening to taupe velvet interior with steel brackets for shelf adjustment, each cabinet flanked by ring and baluster turnings resting on half round fluted columns on stepped plinth bases, the lower case comprising a conforming top over two central frieze drawers separated by fluted triglyph surmounting two front doors decorated with astragal motifs within panels and two conforming quarter round side compartments, all with 2 rows of shelf space, all flanked by molded and fluted capitals over tapering curved balusters carved with anthemion within strapwork upon projecting molded plinths joining with the molded plinth base. Approximate height 111", width 93", depth 24".
