Series of Six Etchings after the originals by German painter Joseph Hartmann. [N.p.: n.d.]. Mezzotints. Six etchings, approximately 14.5 x 20 inches. Matted and framed in wood under vintage bubbled glass to an overall size of 23 x 29 inches. Text in German and Latin. Each plate is numbered in its lower right corner. Together they tell the story of the prodigal son in six scenes: The son asking for his inheritance, the son leaving home, the son squandering money, the son feeding swine, the son begging to return, and the son being welcomed home. Etchings with light creases, foxing, small tears, minor surface paper loss, surface scratches; soiling, foxing and damp stains to mattes; frame wear; otherwise in very good condition.
