Description
Pre-Columbian, West Coast Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. Most flutes we see are usually very plain and almost always repaired. This fine example is neither. Straight pottery musical instrument has a black burnished finish, head of a warrior adorns the area just below the mouth-piece. He wears a heavy textile helmet wrapped under his chin, adorned with added coffee bean eyes. Nice! 9-1/2"L (23.9 cm).
