(lot of 69 plus) Confederate Civil War archive, (1862-1864) comprising letters written from the battlefield by Thomas W. Johnson and sent to his wife Martha, the letters describe the everyday life of a Confederate soldier, troop movements, and hardships, some are written on regimental ledger paper, in one of the last letters Johnson speakes of drinking foul water, he died a few weeks later, probably of cholera or dysentery, never making it back to his wife; together with a collection of tax receipts, and other family financial papers
