Waterloo medal, renamed to 'Cornet The Hon. John Massy, 1st Royal Dragoons.Please be aware of the update to the description since publication of the catalogue and that the medal has been renamed, appearing engraved rather than impressed.'The honourable John Massy (1795- 1848) was a Cornet for the 1st (or Royals) Regiment of Dragoons. He enrolled in the army in 1814 and served under Captain Henry Rt. Carden's No.3 or 'B' troop at the Battle of Waterloo on the 18th of June, 1815. Massy received half pay from 1826 until he was brevetted the rank of Lieutenant Colonel on the birth of the Prince of Wales on November 23rd, 1841 as sited in The Gentleman's Magazine in July 1848. He died aged 53 on the 7th March, 1848.
