Circa 1893, Providence, RI, in the Art Nouveau style, with heavily rubbed maker's mark and standard mark and impressed partially rubbed Rookwood mark to underside of sterling silver-clad feet, marked to one foot ''Alvin Mfg. Co.'' and ''S????'', the curving conical Rookwood vase painted with carp on a yellow-green ground, within a pierced three-handled mount chased throughout with scrolling foliage and flowers and inscribed to lower reserve ''Ut Pigmus Amicitia / Presented To / John R.
