Description
China, Ming Dynasty, ca 15th to 16th century CE. Pair of votive animals, one on the form of a Bactrian camel, the other a water buffalo with rider. Each are of terracotta covered in traditional Sancai glaze, the water buffalo in green and gold, the camel in solid green. Size: Camel measures 3"L x 2-7/8"H; buffalo measures 3-1/2" L x 2-3/4" H.
Provenance: Ex-private Palm Beach, Florida collection, acquired between 1980 and 1990.
