Description
Southeast Asia, Tibet, Sukhothai, ca. 1300 CE. Stoneware bowl with floral design on exterior. Interior laid with a cream slip, the central medallion painted in blue glaze, the exterior wall laid with cream slip and dark underglaze floral motifs. Sukhothai is famed for its stoneware of plates, dishes and bowls, having an underglaze iron black decorations. Lovely example. Size: Measures just over 7" in diameter x 3"H.
Provenance: Ex-private D. Smith collection, CA, acquired prior to 1985.
