Description
A late 19th century gold garnet and gem brooch. The foil-back circular-shape garnet and colourless-gem curved line, to the textured fan surmount, suspending three foil-back pear-shape garnet drops. Length 4.3cms. Weight 6.9gms.
Condition
Overall condition fair. Surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and dents in keeping with general age and wear. There are areas of significant discolouration in places. There are some areas of greening and dents to some areas of detail. Garnets pinkish purple, with a good saturation of colour. Typical inclusions visible with magnification. Foil backing possibly effecting the saturation of colour. The garnets and colourless gems are in good condition, slight abrasion visible with magnification. Some of the gemstones are possibly loose within the setting, some claws are damaged and would need to be secured. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers for coloured gemstones.
