One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Bird Decoration, attributed to William Capron, Albany, NY, circa 1805, ovoid jug with tooled spout and ribbed handle, the front decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a bird with hollow eye and squared tail, perched on a stylized leaf. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Excellent size and decoration. A body of work with distinctive incised birds of this style have been attributed to William Capron of Albany, NY.
