Description
One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Foliate Decoration, attributed to David Morgan, Manhattan, NY, early 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted foliate design. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. The subtle nuances of this incised decoration link it to a signed David Morgan jar and attributed jug sold as lots 192 and 193 respectively in our July 18, 2015 auction. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a fifty-year private collection. Very nice condition with base chips and some typical in-the-firing flaws.
