This silver bowl bears the effects of 400 years submerged in ocean water. After conservation efforts, the bowl appears to have succumbed to extreme water pressure and perhaps another artifact lying on top of it. The ornate handles still remain in good condition. Only wealthy passengers used silver kitchenware; the average sailor would have had bowls and plates made of ceramic or wood.
