Description
Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Guerrero/Mezcala, ca. 700 to 200 BCE. This axe head is carved from green stone and, like many other Mezcala axe heads, has been carved into a standing human figure. The human shape of this particular axe head is very distinct. Dimensions: 7-1/4" x 2" x 2".
Provenance: Ex-private Mcdonald collection, Houston TX, acquired at local gallery or at auction between 1982 and 1994.

Condition
This axe head is in excellent condition, with very little wear, especially around the bottom half of the figure. There is a minor chip from the blade and the top of the head has some wear.
