Description
Two early 20th century gold pendants. The first designed as a purple paste and split pearl openwork pendant, the second designed with a heart-shape outline with floral motif, each suspended from a chain. Length of pendants 3.5 and 2.2cms. Length of chains 46cms. Total weight 5.8gms.
Condition
Overall condition good to fair. Surface scratches and minor discolouration in keeping with general wear and age. Paste medium purple, medium saturation and typical clarity. Paste in fair condition with abrasion and nibbles to the girdle and facet edges. Split pearls well matched. Split pearls silvery grey, showing muted lustre, with scratches and abrasion. Split pearls untested for natural origin. Without the aid of laboratory equipment, it has not been possible to determine if these cultured pearls are from a fresh or saltwater source.
