CARLE JOHN BLENER (AMERICAN, 1864 -1952 ) FLORAL STILL-LIFE PAINTING, oil on canvas, a beautiful, luminous depiction of a vase of flowers atop a table with striped wallpaper background. Signed lower right. Housed in a period, possibly original, Arts and Crafts frame. First quarter 20th century. 31 1/2" x 25 1/2" sight, 36 1/2" x 30 1/4" OA.
Provenance: Property of a North Carolina lady.
Catalogue Note: Born in Richmond, Virginia, artist Carle John Blenner (1864 - 1952) studied at the Yale Art School and in Paris for many years before embarking on his own professional career. He was known in his day for his fine portraits of wealthy sitters and for his luxuriant floral still-life compositions, of which the present lot is a fine example.
