Description
Collared vase with flared rim, having standard glaze and decorated with flowering branches on a ground shaded brown, rust, yellow and green with yellow interior, marks include impressed reversed R & P mark with an undetermined amount of flames (some of the flames are covered by a glaze pop but most likely 5-6 total for date range 1891-1892), shape #583 D, W (for white clay), signed indistinctly with artist's monogram, approximate height 8 1/2", and a ewer decorated with yellow and green pansies on a reddish brown ground, marks include impressed reversed R & P mark with 3 flames for date 1889, shape #497, R (for red clay), no apparent artist's signature, approximate height 7 5/8".
Condition
Vase has possibly been restored, there are multiple scattered glaze pops with some measuring approximately 1/8" diameter, a couple firing separations on the underside with the largest being 1/2" in length, there is a letter "V" scored into the body on the back of the vase near the bottom indicating second quality; ewer has professional restoration to handle, neck and ruffled rim, small glaze pop and light crazing.
