Description
Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Quimbaya, ca. 1000 CE. The Quimbaya civilization is renowned for its goldwork, demonstrating both fine technical accuracy and remarkably detailed designs. These artisans relished depicting anthropomorphic figures. In this case we have a shaman undergoing a transformation to a jaguar state. Hence the figure manifests both human and animal attributes to capture this spiritual transition. Perforation through headdress for suspension. Custom, museum-quality stand included. 26.2 grams. Size: 2-3/4"H x 1-7/8"W; 3-1/4"H with stand.
