Pre-columbian Taino Frog Zemi from The Doninican Republic, ca. 1000-1500 A.D. Skeletal form frog leaning on a rock. In La Hispaniola the frog was associated with females and females functions. In the South American mythology, children were turned into frogs while calling toa toa what means mother, at the same time this is the sound of the frog in springtime. So the frog, too, might have been associated with childbirth. The Spaniards says frogs were also associated with rain charms. The indigenes believed that frogs attracted rain and so kept them in their huts. 7-7/16"in length.
