Verner Panton (1926-1998)
Danish architect and designer Verner Panton is one of the most famous and influential designers of the 20th century. After his studies at the Technical College of Odense and the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen, he began working for Arne Jacobsen but quickly developed his own style. He favored artificial materials and bright colors, transferring the Pop Art aesthetic to furniture and fittings and deeply shaping our image of the sixties and seventies. His designs, such as the Panton Chair, the Moon Lamp and the interior of publishing house Der Spiegel in Hamburg, were groundbreaking at the time and remain very popular today. (tm)
