Description
Late Period, 600-400 B.C. A fine blue-green glazed faience example of the feline deity Bastet, wearing a tripartite wig and holding a sistrum, with well defined facial features, seated on an openwork throne with depictions of the snake god Nehebkau, with intact suspension loop on the back of the head, fixed to base. Provenance: Lila and Elliott Roberts collection, NYC., acquired in the 1950's. Approx. 3 by 1 1/2 in., 7.7 by 3.9 cm.
