Description
An attractive Narino male seated man with necklace of teeth, Colombia, Capuli Complex, AD 850 - 1500, he is depicted seated on a square chair and wears a loin cloth which extends from his girdle, his hands on his knees. An attractive piece with red glossy surface decorated with black negative resist and he wears a necklace comprised of 13 human teeth interspersed with shell disk beads and with a stone counterpoise on back. A most interesting figure! H: 6 1/2 in (13.8 cm). Intact with burnished red surface with black decoration. Ex Los Angeles private collection.
