ANTONIUS II AND HIERONYMUS WIERIX (FLEMISH, LATE 16TH / EARLY 17TH CENTURY) BIBLICAL SCENE PRINT, copper engraving on paper, a strong impression with inscription at bottom edge, "Antonius Wierix" lower left, and dated "1584" lower right. Matted under glass and housed in a modern frame. Circa 1584 - 1600. 10 1/2" x 8" sight, 20 1/4" x 15 1/4" OA.
Provenance: Property from the estate of a Long Island private collector.
Catalogue Note: Antonius II and Hieronymus Wierix were important printmakers working in Antwerp at the end of the 16th century and beginning of the 17th century. Part of a family of printers, they produced engravings after the principal works of many well-known artists, including Albrecht Durer.
