A Rare and Large Chinese Grey Mottled Jade Duck, 15/16th century, middle Ming dynasty, an object for the scholar's desk symbolizing the wish to do well during one's examinations, the duck sitting on two webbed feet with its head turned and holding a reed in its mouth, its tail turned up to possibly be used as a brush rest, feather details at the tail and wings, Ming dynasty carvings of this size and quality are quite rare, approx. 10 1/2 by 17 cm, 4 1/4 by 6 in.
