Description
Native American, North America, northern Arizona, north of Flagstaff, ca. 1275-1400 CE. Jeddito Black-on-Yellow was among a long line of Hopi yellow wares made from clay that ranges from yellow to orange. This bowl was constructed via the coil-and-scrape technique, painted with manganese-based on bright red slip, and fired in an oxidizing atmosphere. Painted stepped details add interest to the impressive geometric design program of both the interior and exterior. 8" D by 3-1/2" H.
