18th century (circa 1760). Pair of matching George III ebonized and parcel gilt wood torcheres or fern stands wit pierced woven motif on gallery on edge of octagonal top raised on ornate fluted and scrolled shaft with gilt accents and meandering key banding above tripod base with arabesques terminating at scrolled feet. Height 46.6", diameter of octagonal top 12.4" . Provenance: Sotheby's, New York: October 23, 1998 as Lot 331 whereby acquired by Mrs. Dorothy Edwards, Atlanta, Georgia.
