Meiji Period (1868-1912) A finely sculpted and handsomely painted porcelain figure of a young Japanese samurai prince, his right hand raised to his forehead in salute, his uniform painted with 16-petal Imperial chrysanthemums, accented with real gold, over a ground of cobalt blue enamel, his pants with springtime cherry blossoms, also outlined in gold, on a complimentary red enamel ground. Slung over his back is his quiver filled with bows. His boots are black and he stands on a green grass field in front of a rock outcrop. Absolutely beautiful face.
