Description
A RARE JAPANESE IZUSHI WARE PORCELAIN EWER, EISHIN-SHA STUDIO, ACTIVE 1876-1885. Meiji period ewer with cover, of baluster form with dragon form handle decorated in relief with buildings in a landscape scene covered in a white glaze. Stamped 'Eishin' to inside of foot. 23cm tall. Ref: For similar works see The Museum of Ceramic Art, Hyogo Japan, item 140117-034 and 120802-065. Provenance: Acquired circa 1970 from a local private collection.
Condition
Loss at dragons right leg and tip of nose. Small repair to end of section leading from dragons left leg.
