Description
Probably Late Qing Dynasty* (1644–1912). This white, nephrite jade pebble form was chosen and preserved because of the exceptionally high quality and translucence of the nephrite. It has the form of a snuff bottle, but without having been drilled. A very good specimen piece that is of excellent quality. Height (without stand): 2 6/8 in., Width: 2 in., Depth 3/4 in. Measurements are approximate. Weight is unknown. Provenance: An Old Italian Collection that contained Chinese jade from various periods, Ming to Republic. Notes: It is impossible to know the exact creation date of this piece as it has no carved surface by which to help date it by a period style. Judgement should be reserved for the gem quality of the object. Please refer to provenance.
