This brush pot is Inventory number J1, identified as a white jade pen holder, Chien Lung, 1737-1795. The color is closest in our images to the image from above looking down into the interior, that being a very pale greenish white, more pale than the images of the four sides and less white than the two hand held images that we have used because they capture the detail so well. The box is correct for the item but it has an incorrect J33 label which is an unrelated object in the collection. The base for this lot is absent. The box has a Christie's label with a sale number 1032. We do not know in this instance if the sale number was for this lot, which we believe it was, or for collection inventory item J33.

Provenance: This lot comes directly from the home of an heir to the Estate of an English born Far Eastern Fortune 500 chemical company executive whose wife was a successful stockbroker. They regularly did business with Christie's auction house and virtually all items have circa 1980 Christie's labels, some of which are dated but most of which have only sale numbers. We will be dispersing items from the collection over a series of sales and interested parties should contact our office as soon as possible for upcoming sale details.
