Description
Glamorous 1940s Victorian Revival 14k Yellow Gold and Gemstone Double Slide Bracelet. During the Victorian Era ornamented slides on chains were used to change the neckline drape. With the war taking its toll on the economy in the 1940s, clever jewelry designers began “recycling” these bits and pieces from times past by stringing a variety of these slides together to create a most festive bracelet. This superb example circa 1940 far outshines many of the other bracelets of this time. Of solid 14k gold, the bracelet has two rows of decorative slides, each different and individually marked 14k. All set with a variety of gemstones. The ornate clasp top is rectangular in shape and contains one oval peridot and one round cabochon turquoise. The bracelet has a hidden clasp and a 3.50” safety chain. Glittering, colorful and sparkling, coral, turquoise, garnet, bloodstone, moonstone, chrysoprase, aquamarine, pearls, amethyst, enameling, carnelian, sodalite and amazonite add their sense of glamour to an already glamorous fabulous forties vintage bracelet. There are two gold beads between each slide.A hidden box clasp as well as a safety chain secures the bracelet. Due to setting styles the stones could not be tested. There are two gold beads between each slide. The bracelet weighs approx. 44.00dwt (68.50 grams)….
