Lucien LeFebvre Foinet operated as artisanal paint supply store in Paris from 1902 to 1994. Over their many years of operation, the LeFebvre Foinet family became friends with many of their patrons (artists buying their supplies there) and amassed an impressive collection of midcentury artist's work, much of which was sold at an Impressionist and Modern Art sale by Christie's in 2009.
