Anne Marie Grigch, (USA, b. 1961), Artist's Book "Destiny of a Heart", 2005-2007, includes 10 original paintings. Size: 19" x 13" x 2" (47 x 33 x 5 cm).

Born in 1961 in Portland, Oregon, Anne Grgich has spent all of her life in the Northwest—Seattle, as well as Portland—and more importantly, all of her life creating art. As a child, she would exasperate her parents by taking books from the shelves and filling them with paintings, and now, as a mature artist, some of her most popular works amongst collectors are based upon the same principle. Grgich repurposes old library books into an unfolding series of complex canvases, adding collage, textural elements, and multiple layers of paints, while still allowing glimpses of the book's original material to shine through. She is perhaps best known for her haunting faces, such as the one that stares out expressively from the cover of her book at auction, overlapped at left with a vertical line of red hearts. The text above reads “Destiny of Heart,” and below “2005-2007.” In addition to profiles in many publications and showings in exhibitions across the country and around the world, Grgich's work is in the permanent collections of many international museums, including the University of Sydney and the Callan Park Gallery of Sydney, Australia, Halle Saint Pierre in Paris, the Museum Creation Franche, in Begles, France, the Milwaukee Art Museum and the London Art Museum.
