'Flowers in a Vase'. Oil on canvas. Signed and dated '1944' lower right. Note: Little is known about Ann Cochran's early life but was said to be active in southern California in 1940. Anne and her twin sister Alice danced at the Metropolitan Opera Ballet Company in NY for seven years. She studied art for 10 years at the Art Students League. Her diverse painting subjects include clowns, circus scenes, and floral still-lifes. She died in NYC in 1968. Property of a Stamford, CT estate. Dimensions: 36.25" h x 30" w. Frame: 43.50" h x 37.50" w.
Condition
Unlined. Dirty varnish. Several small thin grazing tears in canvas visible from reverse. Condition consistent with the age and materials of the work.
