Important St. Clair Midgett (NC, 1894-1965), Published Goose
Rodanthe, North Carolina, circa 1920, carved and painted wood, glass eyes, significant keel, having a custom stand, published on page 342 of Gunnin' Birds by Kroghie Andresen.
Length 24.5 in.
This large St. Clair Midgett goose required a deep keel with added weights to keep it upright. It has wonderful folk art appeal.
Formerly in the collection of John Funderburg, former curator of the North Carolina Museum of History. Mr Funderburg collected this decoy in the 1960s in Rodanthe, North Carolina.
