Artur Carbonell was the son of the merchant and future mayor of Sitges Pere Carbonell and Sebastiana Carbonell. When he finished his baccalaureate studies, in 1923 he began a career in architecture, studies that he abandoned to devote himself to painting. In 1925 he exhibited his work within the framework of the Sitgetà Historical Art Exhibition that was held at the Casino Prado in the suburbs, and until 1929 he participated in a minimum of six more collective exhibitions.
