Description: Huge oil on canvas painting, dated to the 17th century, by Charles Le Brun, depicting The Triumph of Galatea. Outstanding large-scale illustration of the Nereid from Ovid following their victory over the Cyclops. Triton and the Sea Nymphs are with her, and the hippocampal pulls her chariot. Another sea deity is pursuing her from a distance. Some clothing items are age-related. Displayed in a vintage gilded frame with a plaque by the artist. Dimensions: 51" x 38.5" framed approximately.
