Grey-painted leather-covered boards and binding, each cover intricately carved with deities, album overall 375 x 480, a mix of matte & glossy silver prints (68) tipped into thick card, primarily singular to page recto, with some smaller prints two-per-page, largest 212 x 275mm, smallest 115 x 156mm, manuscript captions in ink below each print in Dutch language. Bound in Rotterdam. Photographers include Christiaan Benjamin Nieuwenhuis, a Dutch photographer based in Padang, West Sumatra; Kurkdjian Studio, established by Armenian photographer Ohannes Kurkdjian in Surabaya and later taken over by English photographer GP Lewis, and others. Views include traditional Indonesian archictecture, urban, park, garden, mountain and river scenes in various locations related to the Dutch East India Company, most noted by their colonial names, including Tanjung Priok, Batavia, Weltevreden, Koningsplein, Parapatan, Meester Cornelis, Paleis te Buitenzorg, Plantentuin Palmenlaan, Garut, the volcanic crater at Tangkuban Perahu, Borobadur Temple scenes, a classical Javanese Wayang wong performance group, Semarang, Selokaton, Fort de Kock, Lemba Harau, Batipuh, and a group portriat of Minangkabau men and children in West Sumatra (Padangse Bovenlanden). The Association was involved in many projects in Dutch East Indies, as well as transport to and from the region; softback measuring 315 x 245mm, with many photographic reproductions, including a portrait of Mees at the start of the book.
