Large Vintage Black Americana Oil on Canvas painting of a femalet in tattered clothes working in the kitchen. A warm pie is cooling on the ledge off an open window with light streaming in,possibly signifying light and hope. On the floor,rests a bowl of milk from which a cat and a mouse both drink,representing peace and harmony among presumed enemies.A very warm and comforting image that dates to early 20th century. Relined.Signed lower left,but illegible, possibly Sara Mc Carthy. 40 x 26 inches.
