Confectionery.- [Nutt (Frederick)] The Complete confectioner; or, the whole art of confectionary, second edition, half-title, 10 engraved plates (3 folding), of which 9 bills of fare and the last depicting a 'Syringe Mould', woodcut cornucopia tail-pieces, edges of half-title lightly browned, plate 7 upper corner torn and repaired, just touching part of circular border of two dishes, but not affecting text, folding plates 8 and 9 with marginal repairs and some dust-soiling (the latter also to outer margin of A1), spotting and staining, lightly browned, contemporary sheep, sympathetically rebacked, spine in blind-stamped compartments and with red morocco label, [Bitting p.347; Cagle 907; Maclean p.108; Oxford p.117 (note); Simon BG 1108], small 8vo, Printed for the Author; and sold by J. Mathews, No.18 Strand, 1790. *** The second edition is rare at auction. Nutt was apprenticed to Negri & Wetten at their confectionery shop in Berkeley Square at the sign of the pineapple.
