The country pine slant-front desk with its original grain painted finish comprised of a dark red undercoat with black highlights. Single beaded drawer with what appears to be the original knobs. Tapered legs front and back. Overall excellent condition. It is exceedingly rare to see a piece of 19th century Canadian country furniture with such a pristine original finish. Note: there is a 1/8th inch horizontal separation in the lid that runs the width of the desk, and the slope front is fixed. Mid 19th century, Uxbridge, Ontario.
