Chinese Ming Dynasty Chenghua Blue and White Qilin Porcelain Jade Pot Spring Vase. Potted in Chinese traditional YuHuChun shape vessel, the pear shaped bottle vase, slight ovoid body, a bottom-heavy body tapered gracefully to slender waisted neck, with wide flaring mouth rim, supported on short small foot base, slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white base colour which contrast against blue colour, depicted of vigorous Qilin surrounded with flowers bloom and interlocking tendril. Qilin are extraordinarily beautiful creatures, sparkling like gems and adorned in flames. With their scaly bodies and horned heads, they resemble Chinese dragons. Qilin are symbol of luck, good omens, protection, prosperity, success, and longevity by the Chinese. Whatever their special attraction, they always move gracefully and dazzle the mortals who see them.The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark.
