An unusual tinsel foil painting depicting fruit in a basket with two red birds on each side. It is rare to have a foil scene without a lot of open space between subjects. The painting is done in vibrant colors of red, gold, green, blue as well as other colors. The frame is most likely not original. Condition is very good, with some very minor foil problems at some points on the edges (see photos). The sight size is 15 ¾” by 11 ½”, and the framed size is 17 ¼” x 13 1/8”. A little history: Foil paintings were done primarily in the second half of the 19th century, and were generally made by women and school girls.
