Description

Benny Carter (American, 1943-2014), I Want My Apple Back, Acrylic On Found Wall Paneling. Signed lower right. Carter's work is classified as both Folk Art and Outsider Art, though it is said he preferred the term "Self Taught" artist. He began painting in 1991, after being laid off from his job at Halstead Metal Products. Much of his work features biblical themes, influenced by his Baptist upbringing in North Carolina. His work has been exhibited at the American Visionary Art Museum, Palmer Museum of Art, and the Montgomery Museum of Fine Art. As framed 21.25W x 16.75H x 0.75D in. Sight 19.0W x 14.5H in.
