The serpent has multiple meanings in Viking mythology. Jormungandr was the World Serpent who circled the world biting his own tail. As well, they believed in sea serpents which added to the perils of sailing unknown waters. This bracelet would have been worn by a man or woman to protect against these mythical serpents.
