This splendid full bust character jug in saltglaze was made at the Doulton & Watts Lambeth Pottery. The salt-glaze is two toned on the hat, and features superior detail on the coat which displays Nelson’s Orders. Approximately 7 x 10 x 6”. The handle is sculpted in the form of a queue or pig-tail, and two minor chips at the base rim. No manufacturer’s hallmark on bottom. Fine. Captioned at bottom: “Trafalgar 1805 / England Expects that Every Man Will Do His Duty.”
