19th Century Wood Santo Saint Francis of Assisi. This is a New World Spanish colonial 19th Century carved wood and painted gesso figure .This Santo depicts Francis of Assisi, founder of the Order of Franciscans. His girdle is distinguished by knots representing: poverty, chastity, and obedience. Measures 33" high X 12" wide X 10" deep. Condition- Overall good condition with some gesso loss, paint loss, insect holes, and three broken and reattached fingers. See photos.
