A LARGE SYRIAN BRASS SILVER INLAID HINGED PEN BOX, 19TH CEN.
Item Details
Description

A large elliptical brass pen box, inlaid with silver, with functioning clasps, originating from Syria. The inlay on the exterior, interior, and lid of the box accentuates a leafy vine motif; interwoven with Farsi script. The clasps and hinges integrate this same motif blending the pieces into the box as a whole. The interior is fitted with two large compartments (one with a hinged lid) used to store writing implements and materials. It also has two spherical ink containers that can be removed from the box entirely.

Condition
The pen case is in excellent condition considering its age and medium. The silver inlay is intact. No dents or restoration. Minor warping of clasps.
