RIAA 3x Multi-Platinum Award for 98 Degrees album 98 Degrees and Rising. The album, the group's second studio release, came out on Oct. 20, 1998. The album was certified 3x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA on Oct. 12, 1999 for three million copies sold.

On the strength of singles "Because of You" and "The Hardest Thing", which went to #3 and #5, respectively, on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the album itself peaked at #14 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. By January of 2000 the album was certified 4x Multi-Platinum for four million copies sold.

Detailed Item Description: This RIAA 3x Multi-Platinum award is a first presentation award that would have been manufactured in 1999 making it approximately 25 years old. It is presented to a former radio program director. Their name has been obscured only in the photos for privacy. A letter of provenance from the recipient will be provided with purchase. Provenance letter can be seen in images with executive's name obscured for privacy. Item buyer will receive a non-obscured copy of the letter.

The award is all original with a serial number RIAA hologram seal and unopened backing paper with Ill-Eagle manufacturer's sticker. It is in VG to Excellent condition with only a very few minor mars on the frame.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear.
